The annual Australian based camping music festival had originally been pushed back to October of this year, but it was announced last month that the festival was now cancelled, due to return in all its glory July 23rd – 25th 2021.
The producers of Splendour, Jessica Ducrou and Paul Piticco announced that it was too ambitious to try and run the festival this year with ongoing travel restrictions and uncertainty surrounding COVID-19.
In a statement they said:
“with a heavy heart and after a great deal of consideration, Splendour in The Grass will move the 20th Anniversary event forward to July 2021.”
“Like most we have been monitoring the situation closely for the past few months and while Australia is now moving into the recovery phase, there is no timeline yet around the opening of international borders. As a result, and with our audience interests front and centre, we must announce the reschedule to 2021.”
All tickets purchased for the 2020 event will be valid next year, but if you are unable to make the new dates you can apply for a refund.
The festival already confirmed that acts Tyler, the Creator and The Strokes will retain their bookings to perform at the festival. British virtual band, Gorillaz, fronted by Damon Albarn (also frontman of Britpop band, Blur) will headline in place of Flume, who are unavailable for the new dates.
The remaining line up is set to drop early 2021 and tickets can be purchased in advance on Moshtix.
